How to Choose the Best Equipment for Your Pool
You get to build your dream pool, and that’s cause for a celebration! Along with building that dream pool comes so many decisions, which can sometimes feel overwhelming. Since the equipment you’ll use for your pool can make all the difference on how well you’ll enjoy your pool year after year as well as affecting your budget now and into the future, you’ll want to consider all your options when making this important decision.
Especially since equipment can be a major part of your pool building and maintaining budget. If you ever need to replace any component of your pool equipment, it’s also helpful to understand each piece and its function.
Pool Equipment 101
Pump
Your pump is the star of your pool equipment lineup. It circulates the water in your pool, distributes chemicals, and removes waste. When choosing your pool pump, you can choose one that runs manually, is set to run automatically, can be operated from a smart device, and/or has energy saving options.
Filter
Your pool filter does exactly what its name suggests: Filter your pool water to remove debris, dirt, oil, and so on, helping to keep your pool water as clean as possible and making it easier for your pool chemicals to do their jobs. You have options for the type of filter you choose: Cartridge, sand, or Diatomaceous Earth (DE).
Heater
Depending on where you live and how many months of the year you want to enjoy your pool, a pool heater might be a good investment. When it comes to a heater, you can opt for natural gas or propane gas.
Water Treatment System
Before your water is returned to your pool during the pumping process, it goes through your water treatment system, which sanitizes and helps to eliminate pathogens while also helping to prevent scaling and algae buildup from forming in your pool. Some water treatment manufacturers offer an automatic chemical injection system, allowing the water in your pool to stay clean and healthy, saving you time and money on pool maintenance.
Vacuum
Your pool vacuum (aka pool cleaner) cleans the floor, walls, and anything else that is under the water in your pool. You can choose from a pressure side, suction side, or robotic vacuum, depending on your needs.
Lights
Not only do pool lights make your nighttime swimming more enjoyable, but they also add an important safety and security element to your pool. Lights are available in different colors and brightness levels depending on the feel you’re going for.
